浙江越秀外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)院是經(jīng)國(guó)家教育部批準(zhǔn)建立的全日制普通本科高校，也是浙江省目前唯一獨(dú)立設(shè)置的外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)院。
學(xué)院座落于歷史文化名城、魯迅故鄉(xiāng)——紹興，1981年由“和平老人”邵力子的侄子、紹興市著名教育家——邵鴻書先生創(chuàng)辦，印度著名詩(shī)人泰戈?duì)栔袊?guó)唯一的學(xué)生魏風(fēng)江先生曾任首任校長(zhǎng)。先后曾榮獲省級(jí)“依法治校示范校”、“平安校園”、“畢業(yè)生就業(yè)工作優(yōu)秀單位”、 “保衛(wèi)工作創(chuàng)新單位”等榮譽(yù)稱號(hào)。
學(xué)院現(xiàn)占地649畝，校舍建筑面積21萬(wàn)平方米，館藏圖書89萬(wàn)冊(cè)，建有多媒體室、語(yǔ)音室、計(jì)算機(jī)中心、衛(wèi)星閉路電視系統(tǒng)、外語(yǔ)調(diào)頻廣播、圖書館、體育館等現(xiàn)代化外語(yǔ)教學(xué)設(shè)施，以及27個(gè)具有仿真職業(yè)氛圍、設(shè)備先進(jìn)的校內(nèi)實(shí)習(xí)實(shí)驗(yàn)基地。
學(xué)院現(xiàn)有全日制在校生8200余人，專任教師451人，副高以上職稱教師141人，享受政府特殊津貼的博士生導(dǎo)師2人，同時(shí)聘有來(lái)自美國(guó)、英國(guó)、加拿大、日本、韓國(guó)、俄羅斯等國(guó)家的外籍教師50余名。學(xué)院下設(shè)英語(yǔ)、東方語(yǔ)言、西方語(yǔ)言、涉外經(jīng)管、國(guó)際交流、成人教育等六個(gè)二級(jí)學(xué)院，開(kāi)設(shè)英語(yǔ)、日語(yǔ)、韓語(yǔ)、法語(yǔ)、德語(yǔ)、俄語(yǔ)、西班牙語(yǔ)、阿拉伯語(yǔ)等八個(gè)語(yǔ)種20余個(gè)外語(yǔ)及相關(guān)涉外專業(yè)，是浙江省開(kāi)設(shè)外語(yǔ)語(yǔ)種最多、外語(yǔ)人才培養(yǎng)規(guī)模最大的外國(guó)語(yǔ)學(xué)院。
辦學(xué)近三十年來(lái)，學(xué)院秉承“和成·育秀”的校訓(xùn)，致力于“成功的應(yīng)用型外語(yǔ)人才”的培養(yǎng)，堅(jiān)持以生為本，積極培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的外語(yǔ)應(yīng)用能力、專業(yè)實(shí)踐能力、綜合職業(yè)能力，畢業(yè)生受到了社會(huì)廣泛的歡迎。
Brief introduction
Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages, a sole foreign languages university in Zhejiang Province, is a full-time university of bachelor degree approved by the Ministry of Education.
Located in Shaoxing, a historic and cultural city of China and ancestral place of Luxun, Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages is established by Mr.Shao Hongshu* in 1981 with Mr.Wei Fengjiang* as the 1st principal, and has been awarded as a Provincial Model of Running College by Law, Safe Campus ,a Model of Graduates Employment, and Initiative Model of College Security.
Covering a total area of 649 mu and with a construction area of 210,000 square meters, Yuexiu has multimedia classrooms, language laboratories, computer centers, closed-circuit satellite TV system, a stadium and a library with a collection of 890,000 books. It has 27 on-campus training bases equipped with modern facilities to simulate professional atmosphere.
There are 8,200 full-time students and 451 teachers, including 141 associate professors and professors, 2 doctoral advisors receiving government allowances. And there are around 50 foreign teachers from the USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Republic of Korea, and Russia working in Yuexiu. The 6 colleges of Yuexiu, namely, College of English Language, College of Oriental Languages, College of European Languages, College of International Business and Management, College of International Exchange and College of Adult Education, offer 8 foreign languages* and 20 foreign language-related majors to the students. Yuexiu is the largest foreign language university covering the most foreign languages in Zhejiang Province.
Since its establishment nearly 30 years ago,Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages has been adhering to the motto of Harmony,Integrity,Cultivation and Success,and striving to cultivate successful and practical talents of foreign languages. It adopts the students-based strategy to develop the students’ abilities of language application, professional practice and vocational competence. , and the graduates of Yuexiu are popularly approved by the society.
* Mr.Shao Hongshu(1910—1990), a well-known educator in Shaoxing, is the nephew of Shao Lizi who is famous in Chinese history for pursuing peace all his life.
* Mr.Wei Fengjiang (1911-2004), is the only Chinese student of Tagore.
